Around one million viewers tuned in to the first season of Danefæ when it premiered in the summer of 2025.
Now, viewers can look forward to another season of the hit series about archaeologists Ester and Michael. In the first season, it became clear that Ester, who was married to Michael, had spent many years in his shadow while he built a career at the very top of Danish archaeology.
That all changed when Ester made a major Viking Age discovery. The find sparked a conflict between them, both professionally and personally. In the new season, Ester has stepped out of Michael’s shadow and, following her remarkable discovery, has been headhunted by Moesgaard Museum.
Her new position is complicated, however, by the fact that Michael, whom she has since divorced, is also working at Moesgaard Museum, turning the museum into the setting for a ruthless battle between the two.
